Lupin's research in new chemical entities uses not only the customary chemical synthesis route but also herbal based leads.
NCE research in Lupin is focused on the following therapies:

Anti-migraine
Lupin has developed a molecule for intra-nasal administration. We
filed an investigational new drug (IND)
application in India in
September 2002.

Anti-TB
Lupin has identified 3 compounds that have demonstrated significant
in vitro
and in vivo activity against sensitive and resistant strains of M.tuberculosis. Pre-clinical studies are in progress.

Anti-psoriasis
Lupin has developed a new herbal drug of which the 'proof of concept' study had shown very good remission. We have completed more than 50%
in vitro and in vivo pre-clinical studies.

Anti-inflammatory
In FY 2002-03, Lupin synthesized and screened nearly 500 new molecules for
anti-inflammatory activity. Of these, two molecules have shown promise.
Pre-clinical in vivo and in vitro studies are in progress.
