As one of the world's largest manufacturers of life-saving drugs, Lupin is fully aware of its responsibility towards the community that it lives in and serves. Our health outreach program primarily seeks to educate communities, particularly the vulnerable poor and illiterate, on the scourge of tuberculosis, its prevention, containment, and, more important, its cure. Some of Lupin's contributions to the fight against this killer disease:
A 20-minute film on the symptoms that could indicate TB, its treatment and its cure.
We screened the film all over India at the clinics of nearly 5,000 leading
TB-specialists
100 TB camps across India in 2002-03, where Lupin sponsored patient diagnosis with sputum testing and X-rays. Public awareness was created through extensive campaigning with the local communities-up to 200 people turned up for single camps in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Our film on TB was shown at all these
camps
Almost every TB-treating doctor has educational
posters, created by Lupin, in patients' waiting
rooms
In December, Lupin would be distributing post-it notes on patient education to be handed over by doctors to patients suffering from
TB
Patient education literature in 9 different Indian
languages
