Kyowa is ranked amongst the top 10 generic pharma companies in Japan with over 50 years of significant presence in the pharmaceutical market. The Company is currently marketing over 100 products in Japan and sells products to over 45% hospitals in Japan. Kyowa is in business with nationwide wholesalers and distributors. The Company also provides its products to 26,455 dispensing pharmacies.

In April 2008, Kyowa received further approvals for 10 products from the Ministry of Health and Labour Welfare, Japan (MHLW), following which the products were launched in July, post NHI listing.

Kyowa has a strong position in the CNS and CVS segment and through additional six products in the CNS category, it is further consolidating its position as an indomitable player in this segment.

Lupin had acquired Kyowa in October 2007 and is now working towards enhancing its market reach through a wide product portfolio, which is being augmented through its R&D expertise in India.
