Having identified Advanced Drug Delivery Systems (ADDS) as a future growth driver for the Company, Lupin channeled significant investments towards strengthening its ADDS capabilities in the year. The Company now has 14 different drug delivery platforms already developed. These include:
- Invasive to Non-Invasive Delivery Systems
- Oral Controlled Release Systems
- Solubilization - Bioavailability Enchancing Technologies
- Pulmonary Drug Delivery Systems
- Taste Masking Technologies
Within the oral controlled release space, the Company has extended its scope of activities to deploy bio-adhesive and gastro retentive technologies in building unique products. Based on these technologies, Lupin has as many as 5 differentiated extended release products that are currently in advanced stages of development. During FY 2008-09, Lupin added laser drilling and nanotechnology capabilities to its armory of technologies within the ADDS space.
As part of its strategy, the Company aims to license its ADDS products to innovator companies, whilst also developing niche brands for itself.
